The Photography Session

My newborn sessions usually take about 1.5 - 2hrs. This allows us plenty of time to stop for feeds and nappy changes when needed. Along with the photographs of your baby I also love to get some shots of the whole family, mum and baby, dad and baby and sibling shots (if applicable).

STUDIO

My home studio is at 28 Tetta Street, Augustine Heights. I will have the room quite warm so bub can be comfortable and nice and sleepy. I would recommend wearing layers so you don't get too hot.

You don't need to bring anything specific for your baby to wear as I have everything we need however if you have something special you would like to incorporate you are more than welcome to bring it. I suggest to dress your baby in a simple onsie (with no singlet) so it’s easy to get them changed if they arrive sleeping and we don’t have to disturb them too much.

It’s ideal for your baby to have a nice big feed before we start. You're welcome to do that at the studio. You’re also welcome to park in the driveway.

FAQ

  • I want you to feel beautiful, comfortable and relaxed, and for your photos to reflect that too. What you wear plays a big part in the overall look, but please don’t stress. I'm here to help.

    Start with Mum
It’s often easiest to choose your outfit first and build the rest of the family's from there. You’re welcome to borrow a dress from my client wardrobe. They're flattering, comfortable and photograph beautifully.

    Colours and Texture
Neutral and earthy tones work best. They are timeless, suit every backdrop and keep the focus on your connection. Linen, knits and layered textures all look great on camera.

    What to Avoid
Try to avoid everyone wearing the same thing (like white tees and jeans), bold clashing patterns, neon colours or large logos. Dads don’t need to dress up. Chinos with a tee or a relaxed linen shirt are perfect.

    Shoes
In the studio, I recommend going barefoot. Slip-on shoes are easiest to take off when you arrive.

    Still Stuck?
You can find outfit inspiration on my Instagram or just send me a message. I'm always happy to help.

  • Don’t worry, this happens! If we’re photographing in those early weeks, we usually still get at least some sleepy shots. But awake babies are just as beautiful to capture, and I always follow their lead with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and settling.

  • Can I Take Behind-the-Scenes Videos?

Yes please, I love when you do!
If you feel up to it, little behind-the-scenes clips or snaps during the session are more than welcome. It’s such a fun way to remember the day, and I always appreciate it when clients share them with me so I can post a little peek on my socials (with your permission of course!).

  • As a mum of two, I completely get it. Kids can be unpredictable and that’s totally okay. I’ve photographed hundreds of children and have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to keep things fun and relaxed.

We’ll start with family and sibling photos while everyone is fresh. Once their part is done, I’ve got toys and snacks to keep them entertained. There’s also a park just a few minutes away if your partner wants to take them for a little play while we finish up.

  • Absolutely. If you have something special like a knitted blanket from Grandma, a meaningful toy or a family heirloom, I’d love for you to bring it along. Personal touches like these make your photos even more meaningful and unique to your family.

If you do bring something along, just let me know when you arrive so we can plan the best time to include it during the session.
