Why I do what I do

I guess this is the page where you get to know me a little better. But instead of letting you know how I love a good massage, or how camping trips in our caravan are one of our favourite things to do as a family, I want to explain why photography is important to me and why I do what I do.

Myself, my husband and my daughter were on our way to our own family photos. We (me) had been rushing to get ready and make it on time. On the drive there my husband turned to me and said ‘why do we have to get MORE photos? ’. (Valid point from a photographer’s husband)

It really made me think why am I doing this? Why do I like having so many photos of our family?

For me, it’s a reminder of a memory that I can hold on to forever. My daughter will never be this little again. I want to remember our feeding journey, her little tiny hands, the way her hair is wild and free, just like her. But as time goes on these details will be lost and replaced with new beautiful details as she grows. It will be hard to think back to what she looked like as a newborn, a toddler, a child.

If you are a mum you know this all too well. Where did my newborn baby go?

You deserve to have these memories. Something tangible and beautiful you can hold and look back on. And I’d love to be the one that captures it for you. Because I ‘get it’. And I know how to photograph your family in a way that will help you remember this time in your lives when your children are all grown up.

Your kids are only young for a couple of years. When you are older and yearning to be back here for just one more moment, I want you to pull out your beautiful photos and feel that feeling that you know all too well.
