What happens if it’s forecast to rain the day of your photoshoot?

Rain rain go away, come again another day.

We love it, but not when we’re trying to get some family photos right?

Oh what it would be like to be able to order the weather for the day…

I would like to put in an order for x100 perfect sunsets this year please.

The weatherman doesn’t know what’s going on

Sometimes he has his (or hers) head in the clouds. Pun intended. Seriously though, how many times has the forecast said it’s going to rain, and we get not only no rain but the most beautiful sunset? It happens a lot. So instead we need to play it by ear.

A few days before your photoshoot

If the weather forecast is not looking great in the days leading up to your shoot I will get in contact with you and let you know. I still like to wait until the day of to make a call unless it’s absolutely torrential rain for days.

The day of your photoshoot

I will ask you what time you need to start getting ready for your session so we can make a decision then. It could be raining in the morning and then be okay in the afternoon.

Overcast

Although the sunshine makes for great photos, so does overcast weather. The clouds act as one big softbox making the light super flattering. We also have more versatility with where we shoot in any given location as we don’t have the position of the sun to think about. Some of my favourite images have been sessions shot with beautiful overcast skies.

For this lovely maternity photoshoot it looked like it was going to be overcast skies but the sun popped out last minute and we got the best of both worlds.
